About Me
Hello, I am Carolyn, I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor. I am passionate about providing adults and young people a safe space to talk and to explore their inner self, build their confidence and self-esteem. Once you can understand what holds you back it's then easier to explore change. Perhaps it is low mood, anxiety, anxious thoughts, overthinking, low self-esteem or even catastrophising. Equally, I can offer a confidential, empathetic, safe environment to explore feelings and emotions that are impacting your everyday life. I am a genuine and warm person who will be beside you as we build a therapeutic relationship to enable you to do this.
Having recognised the benefits of counselling as a client myself, and from witnessing my son experience mental health issues in his early teens. I decided to qualify as a counsellor to be able to support others in their time of difficulty. I developed my passion after supporting adults and young people to navigate through challenges in life.
I work by combining a variety of modalities which are personalised to you during our work together. I will not give you my opinions, advice or prescribe medication, but I will enable you to find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping that work for you.

I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation face to face in my private practice, via telephone or Whatsapp. If it is a consultation regarding home visits, then this will need to be through telephone or Whatsapp. This is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss what you would like to achieve from therapy. I will ask you questions in order to carry out an assessment on how best I can support you. It is also a chance for you to ask me any questions and decide if I'm the right therapist for you.
I offer face to face sessions in my private practice, telephone appointments or local home visit counselling sessions (travelling costs added).
Individual sessions last 50 minutes and cost £55 per session.
Concessions for low income, pensioners and students are available. Please contact me for more details.
Cancellation Policy: If you cannot make a session for any reason, please give me 48 hours notice to avoid being charged for the session.
Person Centred
At the heart of my work is Person Centred Therapy. This type of therapy is completely guided by you. Put simply, you talk and I as the therapist listen. Person Centred Therapy is non prescriptive, supportive, respectful and non-judgemental. You, the client, will decide what you would like to talk about and how much you want to share with me. I am completely led by you, we will discuss whatever you feel comfortable with and will go at your pace. Sessions are open ended which will allow you to take your time.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a negative cycle. By changing the way we think or behave in a situation, we can change the way we feel about life. CBT aims to help deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. We would look and identify the triggers and behaviours, and look into the evidence for and against these beliefs, and to support you in learning new skills to think in a way that is more realistic.
Psychodynamic
This type of counselling looks at how childhood experiences and thoughts that you are not aware of affect your thinking, feelings, relationships and behaviour today. As a counsellor I will help you explore and understand long standing conflicts of the past, helping you to become more self aware and bring what is in the unconscious into the conscious.
Creative Counselling
Creative Counselling combines talking therapy with creative interventions. Clients can often feel stuck and are unable to find the words to express how they are feeling or what they are experiencing. By working creatively I provide opportunities for clients to make the unconscious conscious. I do this by working therapeutically with cards, colours, nesting dolls, worksheets, mindmaps and metaphors. I use this type of therapy quite often with children and young people.
